Roxette is a Swedish pop duo, consisting of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. This duo achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their hit singles "The Look", "Listen To Your Heart", "It Must Have Been Love" and "Joyride". All four songs became US #1 singles[1] and reached the upper regions of the charts all around the world. Their albums Look Sharp! and Joyride went platinum on both sides of the Atlantic, while singles, "The Look" and "It Must Have Been Love" both received gold awards from the RIAA.

After their early success, Roxette went on to release three more studio albums, Crash! Boom! Bang! (1994), Have a Nice Day (1999) and Room Service (2001). Their last two releases were not released in United States and did not emulate the peak of Joyride. With Fredriksson's illness in 2002 and subsequent rehabilitation, the duo took a hiatus from recording new albums, but in 2006, their 20th anniversary year, they released The Rox Box, a four CD box set. They have sold an estimated 45 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide, with over 2.7 million albums sales in the United States. Roxette's songs continue to receive radio airplay. "It Must Have Been Love" and "Listen To Your Heart" have both recently received awards from BMI for four million radio plays.

The band formed in Dublin on 25 September 1976. Larry Mullen, Jr., then 14, posted a notice on his secondary school notice board (Mount Temple Comprehensive School) seeking musicians for a new band. Seven teenage boys attended the initial practice in Mullen's kitchen. It was, as Mullen put it, "'The Larry Mullen Band' for about ten minutes, then Bono walked in and blew any chance I had of being in charge." The group featured Mullen on drums, Paul Hewson (Bono) on lead vocals, Dave Evans (The Edge) and his brother Dik Evans on guitar, Adam Clayton, a friend of the Evans brothers on bass guitar, and initially Ivan McCormick and Peter Martin, two other friends of Mullen. During a farewell concert in the Presbyterian Church Hall in Howth, which featured The Hype playing covers, Dik ceremoniously walked offstage. The remaining four band members completed the concert playing original material as "U2".

Toto was a Grammy Award winning American rock band founded in 1977 by some of the most popular and experienced session musicians of the era. The band enjoyed great commercial success in the 1980s, beginning with the band's self-titled debut, released in 1978, which immediately brought the band into the mainstream rock spectrum of the time. Continuing with 1982's critically acclaimed and commercially successful Toto IV, Toto became one of the biggest selling music groups of their era.

Toto was known for their technical prowess in the studio, as well as a musical style that combines elements of pop, rock, soul, funk, progressive rock, hard rock, R&B, and jazz, and although they were regularly associated with the soft rock genre, and particularly the neo-progressive rock genre, this broad array of musical styles helped them appeal to a variety of musicians and non-musician listeners. The band released 17 albums and have sold over 30 million records to date. Their 18th release Falling In Between Live, was released in August 2007. It had been recorded in March 2007 in Paris. As a result of guitarist Steve Lukather's departure from the band, Toto broke up after the last leg of their 2008 tour.

Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, CBE (born 2 October 1951), almost universally known by his stage name Sting, is an English musician from Wallsend in North Tyneside. Prior to starting his solo career, he was the principal songwriter, lead singer and bassist of the rock band The Police. As a solo musician and member of The Police, Sting has sold over 100 million records, and received over sixteen Grammy Awards for his work, receiving his first Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance in 1981, and receiving an Oscar nomination for best song.
